Hartlepool man, 61, appears in court charged with 17 sex offences

A Hartlepool man has appeared in court after being charged with 17 sex offences.

William Stapylton, aged 61, is accused of ten counts of indecently assaulting boys together with seven allegations of a serious sexual assault.

All of the offences date back several decades.

Stapylton, of Shrewsbury Street, Hartlepool, was not asked to enter any pleas during a brief hearing at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 24.

Magistrates sent the case to Teesside Crown Court to be next heard on March 25.
