Dedicated Hartlepool teaching assistant leaves after 22 years
West View Primary School teaching assistant Michelle Nixon, 40, left the school on Davidson Drive, last week, to pursue a career as a teacher after more than two decades there.
The mum-of-four, from Trimdon Grange, said she was sad to leave the school where she has had many happy times, but said pursuing a career as a qualified teacher was something she has always aspired to do.

She has worked with pupils both one-to-one and in groups to ensure they reach their full potential and said she had really enjoyed working with her current teacher, Katheryn Taylor.
Year three teacher Ms Taylor, 32, from Clavering, said she has really enjoyed having Mrs Nixon as her teaching assistant and was sad to see her go. She said: “She was my first and last teaching assistant, as she worked with me when I first started and has taught in other classes as well, before joining mine again this year. “She will be missed a lot by everyone, as she has made some really good friendships at work. “She is a lovely lady and will make an excellent teacher.”
