Helping Hartlepool's job hunters back onto the career ladder

Hartlepool College of Further Education is the venue for a jobseeker’s day on Friday, January 29. It will offer five hours of stands, advice and information from 10am.

Businesses are being encouraged to sign up to the event which will offer help to anyone in Hartlepool looking to get back into work.

It will feature a number of exhibition stands manned by agencies who can offer support and advice to those looking for job opportunities.

The event, one of a number being held across the Tees Valley, follows the success of a project which was held last year and offered one to one support to people affected by the closure of SSI.

Advice and support will be available on topics including CV writing, new career opportunities and retraining.

People can also get help with interview techniques, trade union representation, starting your own business, money management, pensions, welfare and benefits, and health and wellbeing.

Coun Christopher Akers-Belcher, Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “We are doing everything we can to help people who are affected by unemployment, including offering help with accessing benefits, job seeking and considering self employment options.

“The Council’s Economic Regeneration Team constantly looks at ways to match local employers to those seeking employment and this event will offer advice and support to people in the town at a time when they need it most.”
