Here are 11 things we learned from new Hartlepool United manager Darren Sarll’s press conference:
5. Hopeful of new deals for Featherstone and Ferguson
The boss is hopeful that both Nicky Featherstone and David Ferguson will agree new deals. He said that Featherstone was the first thing he thought of when he pictured Hartlepool United, and feels that their experience and know-how can be an asset again next term. Photo: Frank Reid
6. High intensity, high energy
Sarll said he wants his side to adopt a high intensity, high energy style of play full of commitment and a willingness to work hard. The boss said he would sacrifice completing fewer passes if it led to more success and that he wanted his new team to be willing to mix it up. "It's about working out how to win games," he said. 7. The squad must be fit and firing
The new manager wants his side to be one of the fittest in the league and said that pre-season will be demanding in order to ensure his squad can keep up with the rigorous demands of his all-action brand of football. Photo: Frank Reid
8. Determined to keep Dieseruvwe and Grey
Sarll spoke of his determination to keep hold of his two most prolific goalscorers. He said that Dieseruvwe's height and athleticism - and, of course, his 25 goals - would make him hard to replace, while he was full of praise for the emergence of Joe Grey. He admitted he hadn't spoken to either of the frontmen as he wanted to prioritise meeting players who were either being released or offered new deals. Photo: Frank Reid
