Two women arrested in Hartlepool on suspicion of importing illegal drugs worth £50,000

Two women, aged 36 and 37, were arrested in Hartlepool on Tuesday, November 24 on suspicion of the importation of a controlled drug.
The arrests were the result of a joint operation which focuses on disrupting the importation of illegal drugs into the UK between Hartlepool Neighbourhood Police Team, the National Crime Agency (NCA), Border Force and the North East Regional Special Operations Unit (NERSOU).

Hide AdPolice investigating the incident have revealed that the women are alleged to be connected to a package of cannabis – which is estimated to have a potential street value of around £50,000.
Both women have since been released on bail as officers continue their investigations.
Cleveland Police’s PC Sarah Walker has warned that packages are routinely inspected and various levels of enforcement across the country are working on ways to disrupt the illegal importation of drugs and other items into the UK.
She said: “These arrests are part of ongoing work to disrupt the importation of illegal drugs and other items into the UK.
