Here are 12 things we learned from the final Pools press conference of the season:
9. More injury woe for the luckless Kieran Wallace
Phillips confirmed that Kieran Wallace is set to undergo surgery on Saturday, which means he'll likely miss the beginning of next season after enduring an injury-hit campaign. Photo: Frank Reid
10. Phillips wants Pools to spend more time training on grass
Pools have endured a staggering number of injuries this season and are currently reduced to just 16 available players, which includes two goalkeepers and a handful of teenagers. One problem Phillips has identified is his side swapping between grass and astroturf, with wet weather meaning Pools have only trained on grass twice since the new boss took over three months ago. 11. Mani D isn't feeling any added pressure after reaching 20 goal mark
Mani Dieseruvwe said he isn't feeling any added pressure after becoming just the fourth Pools player in 50 years to score 20 league goals in a single season. The former Halifax frontman has also registered 11 assists, meaning he's been directly involved in almost half his side's goals this season. Yet despite establishing himself as one of the best players in the National League, not to mention someone Pools are heavily reliant on, he insists he isn't feeling any extra pressure to perform. 12. Phillips planning to catch up with Mancini next week
The Pools boss admitted he hasn't spoken to the mercurial midfielder since he returned to his native France following a recurrence of a groin problem last month, although he confirmed that physio Danny O'Connor has been in regular contact. Phillips is expecting the 22-year-old to report back on the first day of pre-season training, and is planning to chat to the Frenchman on the phone next week. Photo: FRANK REID 2022
